With a newly expanded part of the series\, Furrer connects with Pythagorean mysticism and not only symbolically deconstructs the relationships\, but also breaks down the harmonic spectrum. The density of voices and instruments together with the constant transformation and mutability of the vocal sound create a new reality\, a new space in which music can resonate and exist on its own. A mysterious world that only exists in the ear.\nWidely protruding\, finely branched sound structures\, studded with countless signs\, metaphors\, phrases\, symbols and influences from every conceivable direction and music can be found in the works of Sarah Nemtsov and yet the deep roots in the European musical tradition cannot be overheard. Her new work WAVES is as enigmatic as Furrer’s Akusmata and delves into the flowing alternating currents between individual and collective consciousness in Virginia Woolf’s novel “The Waves” from 1931. Six voices\, with each other\, next to each other and against each other. Mit einem neu erweiterten Teil der Werkreihe tritt Furrer mit der pythagoreischen Mystik in Verbindung und betreibt dabei nicht nur symbolisch eine Dekonstruktion der Verhältnisse\, sondern zerlegt auch das harmonische Spektrum. The afterimage on the retina\, the mental echo of the crackling has no time to solidify\, it is carried along by the rhythm of the movements\, is bathed in a new light by the next match. Juliana Hodkinson’s Lightness is theater for the ears and eyes\, a quiet kind of fireworks music and a deeply hypnotic and archaic experience.\nSuperimpose I + II by Alexander Schubert\, on the other hand\, is not inclined to create such trance states. The two pieces quickly and hyperactively zap through styles and stereotypes\, a reflection of an accelerated society and its media. It is a juxtaposition and superposition of acoustic instruments and artificial\, synthetic replicas of the same. Copy and paste jazz between improvised and notated music.\nSonic leak by Huihui Cheng puts a damper on the enthusiastic events. Developing tones\, phrases and rhythms are muted\, held back\, veiled\, and often have to fall silent abruptly. The playing technique of dampening is the central driving force and brake of the composition. The disrupted processes create an exciting dynamic and drama of their own.\nThe transformation of some verses from Ovid’s Metamorphoses (the iron age) into structural micro-events serves as the starting point for Oliver Weber’s Inscription II. The molecular sound structures come together to form aggregates\, break apart again and constantly change their state. They form an independent sound body that penetrates all levels and is inscribed in the bowels of the piece.\nWe met as Sparks by Franck Bedrossian closes the fiery circle and thrives on an unequal balance of power and the juxtaposition of strong contrasts. The constant exchange between the bass and treble registers creates unexpected tensions and divergences\, echoes that shoot through the darkness like glittering sparks.

Ausgehend von der Erfahrung des Schmerzes (und der Konfrontation mit Hybridität\, Andersartigkeit und Loslösung) in Panariellos Werk\, kreuzt sich das Programm mit der hyperbolischen Beschreibung von Gargantuas gigantischem Körper (Bertrand) und endet schließlich bei Khubeevs paradoxer musikalischer Untersuchung des Körpers als sprachliches Medium. DESCRIPTION:On 29 October last\, Valencia was hit by a DANA that flooded a large part of the so-called region of l’Horta Sud\, causing innumerable material damages and fatalities. The need to do something about this climatic catastrophe has mobilised musicians belonging to various contemporary music initiatives in Graz who have come together to offer a benefit concert to raise funds for musical associations in the region.\nMusicians members of Between Feathers\, Ensemble Coincidence\, LAKT\, Schallfeld Ensemble and Helena Sorokina will perform music by Kazu Fukushima\, Kaija Saariaho\, Salvatore Sciarrino\, Petra Stump-Linshalm\, Gundega Šmite\, James Tenney und Jeeyoung Yoo.\nAll donations from the concert will go to the Federation of Musical Societies of the Valencia Region (FSMCV).\nYou can support the initiative also donating to their bank account: ES45 3159 0078 5630 4840 6023

Dezember 2024\n18:00 – 21:00\nim Salon Gudrun \nLiquid Loft & das Ensemble PHACE geben sich die Ehre\, zu einer Soirée dansante in die Räumlichkeiten des Salon Gudrun in der Wiener Laxenburgerstraße\, Ecke Gudrunstraße\, einzuladen. Inspiriert vom ehemaligen Grand Etablissement der Vorstadt wird ein installativer Ballabend\, vom Publikum frei begehbar\, zu erleben sein – verteilt auf mehrere Räume und drei Stunden Laufzeit. Der Ballsaal ist hier ein Container\, in dem die Décadence und die Verwerfungen des 19. und 20. Jahrhunderts wie in einer Doppelbelichtung aufblitzen\, in dem der dekonstruierte Wiener Walzer kein Paartanz mehr ist\, die utopische Energie von Schub und Drehung dennoch unübersehbar in sich birgt. Eine Valse capricieuse entsteht\, die auch als Auftakt eines größeren seriellen Projekts zu verstehen ist – als Vorstudie zu Performances\, die Liquid Loft\, erneut in Zusammenarbeit mit PHACE\, für das Festjahr Johann Strauss 2025 realisieren wird.

This performance emphasises inclusivity by inviting people of all abilities\, including those with visual impairments\, ensuring a diverse and collective experience. \nThe collective represents Eastern\, Central\, and Southern Europe\, bringing together a diverse range of cultural perspectives. The partnership is driven by sustainability efforts and it  strives to bring ‘Creatures of Tomorrow’ to audiences worldwide\, fostering dialogue and promoting improvisation and creativity in the arts.
