Johannes Brahms: Hungarioan Danve No. 5 in C major (arr. Parlow)
Tan Dun: Water Concerto for water percussion and orchestra
- Evelyn Glennie, percussion
- recreation – GROSSES ORCHESTER GRAZ
- Mei-Ann Chen, first guest conductor
This music gets along like fire and water. Haydn and Wagner’s renderings of “Magic Fire“ rip through the Stefaniensaal like one of Brahms’s hot-blooded “Hungarians“. The fire is quenched by a mighty wave of sound created by the Chinese composer Tan Dun: Mei-Ann Chen has always wanted to conduct his Water Concerto in Graz – a feast for the eyes and ears, with none other than Evelyn Glennie on percussion.
Pre-concert talk in Stefaniensaal at 7.15 pm – admission free
