Manuel Alcaraz Clemente – Percussionist
Manuel Alcaraz Clemente is a percussionist known for his distinctive expressiveness and passion for contemporary music. In his solo, chamber, and ensemble performances, he works closely with composers to create and present new works.
As a soloist, Manuel regularly collaborates with composers from various generations to develop new pieces that expand the range of percussion. He has initiated solo projects such as An elemental thing and ON:DRUMS, in which he explores new soundscapes and rhythms that engage the audience in a unique way.
Since 2016, he has been a member of the Schallfeld Ensemble in Graz and joined the PHACE Ensemble in 2025. Between 2023 and 2025, he also performed with the Wiener Ensemble Kontrapunkte. In addition to his work with these groups, he regularly collaborates with other renowned ensembles and orchestras, including the Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra and Klangforum Wien.
Manuel has performed at various international festivals, including the Lucerne Festival, the Salzburg Festival, the Warsaw Autumn Festival, Wien Modern, the Darmstadt Summer Courses, Klangspuren Schwaz, the Afekt Festival, and the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival.
As an educator, Manuel offers masterclasses for young composers and percussionists in Austria, Portugal, Spain, and Slovenia. Through his teaching, he shares his expertise and inspires the next generation of artists. Since 2019, he has also been a Marimba One™ Educational Artist.
Education: Manuel holds a Bachelor’s degree from ESMuC in Barcelona, a Master’s degree from ESMAE in Porto, and a Master’s in Contemporary Music Performance from the Kunstuniversität Graz.
